Tintinimaginatio chose the pendulum pose for Professor Calculus: the instrument suspended between the thumb and forefinger, the outstretched arm, the concentrated expression of the amateur dowser who firmly believes in his method. It's one of his most recurring attitudes in the albums, and one of those which best reveals his quirky relationship with reality.

The resin restores Professor Calculus's usual costume, the corduroy jacket, the bow tie, the round glasses. The pendulum is made of fine metal, hanging on a discreet wire: it is the most delicate accessory in the room, the one that distinguishes this version from generic representations of the scholar.

Professor Calculus appeared in Red Rackham's Treasure and never left the series. It was he who gave Tintin its scientific dimension and its most speculative adventures: the rocket, the submarine, the Professor Calculus waves. The pendulum in his hand condenses this personality.
