Thomson and Thompson: the two resin detectives, side by side
Tintinimaginatio represented them together, as Hergé hardly ever separates them: same costume, same cane, same mustache, but a slightly different look which allows them to be distinguished. The hand-painted resin restores the nuance between the two, Thomson and Thompson side by side in their detective raincoats from the 1930s, the expression of someone who is certain of having understood everything even though he has understood nothing.
It is one of the compositions most faithful to Hergé's visual logic: the two characters are visually interchangeable, which is precisely the joke. The painting differentiates them by a detail of posture or gaze that only an attentive eye perceives.
The inseparable comic duo since Tintin in America
Thomson and Thompson go through almost the entire series, always so sure of themselves, always so off the mark. Separating them would not make sense: Tintinimaginatio treated them like the duo that Hergé wanted.
