Nestor from the Imaginary Museum: the Moulinsart butler with the silver platter
Nestor is represented in his outfit as butler of the Château de Moulinsart: black coat with tailcoat, white gloves, silver tray in hand. Hergé always drew him in this posture of absolute service, the spine straight, the platform stable even in the most chaotic situations. The hand-painted resin restores the contrast of the black of the outfit and the white of the gloves, and the luster of the brushed silver tray.
The face is the most elaborate part of the figurine: the perfect discretion of the butler, the neutral features that Hergé gave him to make it the background against which the chaos of the visitors to Moulinsart takes on its full relief.
A second role as a connoisseur in the collection
Nestor is the type of play that says something about how readable a collection is: you don't buy it when you have two albums, you buy it when you've read Tintin and the Picaros and Red Rackham's Treasure and know what the butler brings to every scene in which he appears.
