The Maharajah and his son: Asian royalty in resin
The Maharaja of Rawhajpoutalah and his son Civa are represented in their court outfits, those that Hergé designed in Les Cigares du Pharaon with the attention to clothing details that characterizes his Asian period. The Maharajah's turban, the jewelry, the embroidered tunic: each element is hand painted on the resin, the color of the fabrics applied layer by layer.
The vertical composition places the father slightly behind the son: this is the organization of the two characters in Hergé's plates, the father behind, the child in front. The detail of the embroidered shoes, visible at the base of the figurine, is one of the most elaborate elements of the piece.
Hergé's Asian period in volume
The Cigars of the Pharaoh and The Blue Lotus form the narrative matrix that changed everything in the Tintin series. The Maharajah and Civa are two important figures. Their presence in a Tintinimaginatio collection indicates a knowledge of these founding albums.
