Pixi Mortimer in the sarcophagus, 200 copies: The Yellow Mark in volume
The sarcophagus is reconstituted in metal like a real volume object: the outer case with its hand-painted hieroglyphs in relief, the interior with Mortimer inside in the posture of the mummy. Jacobs had drawn this scene in The Yellow Mark with exceptional attention to detail: the Egyptian decoration of the sarcophagus, the expression of Mortimer trapped. Pixi translated it into three dimensions.
The embossed hieroglyphs on the sarcophagus case are the most technical element of the piece: hand-painted designs on a curved metal surface, with variations in hue between areas of gold and areas of simulated lapis lazuli.
