The Chrysler Imperial at 1/12th scale
The big American limousine that carries Tintin to Nanking in The Blue Lotus is among the most documented automobiles in the work. Hergé worked from press photographs, and the early nineteen-thirties Chrysler Imperial is recognisable down to the shape of its grille.
At 1/12th scale, the length of the body calls for serious display space. The midnight blue coachwork stands against the black wings and running boards, the white-wall tyres and the chrome of the grille. Two figures occupy the interior, and the yellow plate in Chinese characters places the scene without a word.
The Tintinimaginatio 1/12th series
Three automobiles make up this series today: the Thomson and Thompson 5CV, Dr Finney's Torpedo and this Chrysler. Same scale, same resin work, same numbered-edition logic.
Available to order from Tintinimaginatio, with numbered certificate and original box.
