Pixi General Alexander, 250 copies: the armchair commander
Alexander sits in his command chair, the posture of the staff issuing orders from afar. The Pixi composition recreates the metal armchair: the armrests, the padded back, the turned legs. Alexander himself in his northern general's uniform, the epaulettes, the braids, the peaked cap, the neat mustaches: the portrait of the leader who has not experienced the mud of the first line.
The seated pose is rare in the Pixi The Bluecoats catalogue. Alexander in the Chair is the only composition in the series to depict a character in this posture of static authority.
