Pixi Dreaming Smurf, 1,000 copies 2012: metal eyes closed
The dreaming Smurf is represented with his eyes closed, in a posture of inner withdrawal which contrasts with the usual agitation of the village. Head slightly tilted, arms in a meditation position or simply relaxed: the hand-painted metal captures this moment of calm with the same precision it would bring to an action pose.
The closed eyes on a figure this size are a painting challenge: the eyelids, any eyelashes, the way the expression changes when the gaze disappears. This is one of the most subtle faces of the first wave.
